A PAD Program (Public Access to Defibrillation) allows people to have quick access to an AED in places where large numbers of people gather. An AED is an automated external defibrillator, a small medical device. When attached to a person's chest, an AED can recognize a lethal heart rhythm and advise a user to shock if indicated by using voice prompts.   More and more places of business are instituting PAD programs to enable quick response time to life-threatening events such as cardiac arrest. With a small amount of training, the rescuer can learn to use the AED. CPR training is also required when training to use the AED since both skills are necessary during a life-threatening event. Many businesses select several people in the company to participate in the AED/CPR training when instituting a PAD Program thereby ensuring enough assistance when needed.

As a PAD Program does not take the place of EMS or emergency care by professionals, it is still most important to contact 911 or local EMS when there is a life-threatening event. First Aid Training
This first aid course follows the American Heart Association curriculum. The course discusses general principles, medical emergencies as well as injury emergencies. An elective module is also available in environmental emergencies. First aid training is required by many places of business often fulfilling OSHA or state requirements. It is recommended to take this class in combination with cpr and aed training. Students can choose to take one of the two following first aid courses offered by the American Heart Association:
Adult First Aid Training
The adult first aid course is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, including:

• Security and airline personnel
• Construction contractors/workers
• Industry/factory workers
• Camp counselors
• Police and firefighters
• Teachers and day-care workers
• Aerobics teachers/physical-fitness trainers
• Other individuals who want or need first-aid training

Pediatric First Aid Training
This course is specially designed to train those responsible for children's health in meeting state-specific requirements. Backed by comprehensive state-by-state research, it meets the regulatory and credentialed training requirements for child-care workers in all 50 states.
The pediatric first aid course is intended for all individuals involved in child care who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency involving a child, including:

• Child-care and foster-care workers
• Teachers
• Recreation and other community program staff
• Camp counselors
• Sports coaches and trainers
• New parents, guardians, and other caretakers

Along with the general, medical and injury emergencies covered in the class, there are also optional pediatric first aid modules which include: Pediatric first aid topics, including eye injuries; fever; suspected abuse; and snake, spider, scorpion, tick, and marine animal bites and stings.

The bloodborne pathogens course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. Bloodborne pathogens uses the PACT acronym and slogan to help students learn and retain what to do when there is danger of or has been exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the workplace: Protect yourself from exposure Act when exposed Clean yourself and the area involved Tell or report any exposure

The Advanced Cardiac Life Support course follows the American Heart Association curriculum. Taught by instructors who have multiple years of medical and emergency patient-care experience, this two-day provider course is intended for healthcare professionals such as: Emergency Department nurses and physicians Critical Care nurses Code Team Respondents Respiratory Therapists Pharmacists Paramedics Physicians practicing in the acute care setting Anesthesiologists Nurse anesthetists Transport medics/nurses

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a two-year American Heart Association certification card. Courses may be taught at your facility to groups of 5 or more or individuals may contact us to seek the next available course. The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course follows the American Heart Association curriculum. Taught by instructors who have years of pediatric experience, this two-day provider course is intended for healthcare professionals such as: Emergency Department nurses Critical Care nurses Pediatric Nurses Paramedics Physicians caring for pediatric patients Transport medics/nurses Nurses caring for pediatric patients (especially hospitalized peds patients)
